a chair maker who lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I grew up in Georgia on the water and outside. Music always consumed me (thanks Mom) and the inherent urge to work with my hands kept me curious (thanks Dad). After college and some time as a river guide, I found myself in various carpentry jobs working on houses. As time went on I learned about woodworkers like Curtis Buchanan, Drew Langsner, Jennie Alexander (among many others) who kept traditional woodworking alive, that’s where the chairmaking began.
Green woodworking is foreign to so many woodworkers, maybe that was the allure. It’s hard. Chairmaking, that is. But, it is accessible to so many. That’s why I love it.
Currently, I am spending my time working on commissions and teaching at various craft schools throughout the Southeast.
